Description

Here we have a pre owned Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitar. Limited Edition 1st production run. Serial number 0040.  Made in 2007 in the United States.   This guitar has had very little play time and is in excellent condition.  Gibson’s revolutionary self tuning guitar.   At it’s heart, it is a Les Paul.   Beautiful Blue Silver Burst finish.  This one comes with everything you see in the photos.  Original case, charger, truss rod wrench, and certificate.   This guitar features the Tronical system and it is working nicely.  The package for the charger has been opened and tested.   Cosmetically, this guitar is in excellent shape.  It has some very light marks and scuffs in the finish.  Nothing major.  Just normal wear and tear from being played a handful of times. The guitar weighs 8lbs 5oz. The case is in excellent condition as well.  A very early example, perhaps for a collection.    All in all, some love these and some hate them but either way, it is a Gibson Les Paul and damn fun to play.   Thanks for looking and happy buying!

Limited Run

Each limited edition, first run Gibson Robot Guitar will feature a dramatic Blue Silverburst nitrocellulose finish, created especially for this limited run. It will never be used on any other Gibson guitar. Also featured is a certificate of authenticity, a power adaptor for the system’s rechargeable lithium battery, and a limited edition first run case with silver tolex and a plush silver interior. Each Robot Guitar’s serial number will also be sequentially exact, beginning with “RG0001,” and continuing through the end of the limited run. This piece is only going to be available for a limited time, in a production run of just 2000 guitars for the US market.

How Does It Work?
It’s really quite simple. The only thing you have to do to tune your guitar to standard tuning is pull the knob, strum the strings, and when everything on the display is blue, you are done. The process for triggering alternate tunings is the same as the process for standard tunings. The Robot Guitar’s ultra-smart inner workings also extend to helping you intonate your guitar as well. LEDs in the control knob actually light up to tell you the exact number of turns needed to adjust the bridge saddle for proper intonation.

Available Tunings:

  • Standard
  • Open E
  • Dropped D
  • DADGAD
  • Open G
  • Hendrix Tuning (Standard, tuned down half-step)
  • Double Dropped D

You might be asking yourself, “With all of these moving parts and LEDs, does the Robot Guitar need batteries?” The answer is no, thanks to a rechargeable lithium battery system that’s fully charged in about 90 minutes, and the charge lasts through approximately 200 tuning cycles. The power adaptor plugs into any standard outlet and uses any standard 1/4″ guitar cable to connect the Robot Guitar to the adaptor. The shorter the cable, the less time it takes to achieve a full charge.

A Les Paul Through and Through
At the end of the day – regardless of the mind-blowing technology hidden within – the Robot Guitar is a Les Paul. Like virtually all other Les Pauls, the Robot Guitar consists of a maple-topped mahogany body. The 22-fret ebony fingerboard sits atop a mahogany neck reminiscent of the 1958/1959 Les Paul. The humbuckers that have been a trademark of the Les Paul sound for 50 years are Alnico-magnet 490R/498Ts for tones ranging from warm and jazzy to all-out crunch. The body is chambered, which reaps benefits with both lighter weight and better tone. The Les Paul Robot Guitar is certainly loaded with groundbreaking technology, but it’s still a Les Paul at heart.
